5 unique birthday gifts for children
Buying a birthday gift for a child isn’t all that difficult, often it’s the quick things that really make them happy and sometimes the more disposable the better. As a father of 2, I know this as well as anyone. It’s always the box that they end up playing with eh?!
There are times where a birthday is more significant than others and a gift that becomes an heirloom, a long lasting memory is needed. Maybe the child won’t appreciate it at that particular moment, but the right gift here is one that they will come to love and appreciate well into the future and where they thank you for getting it, well into the future. In this article, I will look at what these extra special gifts are and present some ideas around what I think are cool and unique birthday gifts for children.
My 5 year old loves jewellery. Absolutely has the house torn apart trying to experiment. So from personal experience, I can vouch for the quality of https://supersmalls.com/ (@super.smalls) and what those guys do. They are safe, great fun, shiny and blingy! All the good stuff that my daughter wants in a gift. They are also so well made and robust and will last a long time. If you have a small one at home that might like this I suggest you check this!
Smartphone controlled paper plane
Yep, you read that right! The guys at https://www.poweruptoys.com/ (@poweruptoys) have pulled off a seriously cool gift that is definitely a choice for unique birthday gifts for children. With a radius of 73m, this looks like a really cool gift, what child would not like to play with this! (big kids would love this also!!!)
A different type of book
My son loves to read, and thankfully, loves a physical book, the feel, the smell. So in my view, a long lasting book gift is one that actually teaches something valuable but in an interesting way. The range of books from https://akidsbookabout.com/ (@akidsbookabout) seriously ticks this box! One we loved and our son loved (more importantly!) was https://akidsbookabout.com/products/a-kids-book-about-empathy by Daron K Roberts (@coachdkr). They offer subscriptions and are cost effective.
The razor ground force drifter https://www.razor.com/products/electric-rides/ground-force-drifter/ (@razorworldwide) is a seriously cool gift! A bit pricier than the rest but as unique gifts go - pretty up there.
A personalised subscription box is a lovely concept and we have our boy subscribed to https://www.kiwico.com/ (@kiwico_inc). He loves the monthly post on this and getting stuck into the latest challenge!
Personalised gifts - last a lifetime
A Personalised book is a lovely concept and the guys over at https://www.wonderbly.com/ (@wonderbly) do an absolutely lovely job of this! Priced not too expensive, having a personalised story book for the child is a beautiful idea and one that will last the test of time.
I love https://www.sarah-tucker.com/personalized-heirloom-for-kids-gift-guide/ (@sarahgtucker) curated list of personalised toys and gifts for children, something on there to suit children of all ages!
Personalised composed piece of music
At www.ownatune.com we compose bespoke pieces of music. These are largely art pieces containing music notation (for aesthetics - you don’t need to be able to play music : It just looks good!) it also has the Mp3.
A lovely addition is that we also include the full sheet music so if your child ever felt like learning it, the complete music is there! These are instant family heirlooms and personalised for the recipient.
That's our list for now, we may re-visit into the future!
